| John Plested of Bermuda, took these photos
in June 2006 during a cruise on the "Windsurf", a Holland America ship that carries
no more than 308 passengers and because it
is smaller than the usual cruise ships, is
able to pull into ports off the beaten track,
like Amalfi. According to John, Amalfi is
"literally built into the surrounding
mountainsides. It was very old and interesting.
A difficult place to take pictures of though
because everything tended to be vertical.
The architecture in the old cathedral was
beautiful even though it had been damaged
by volcano ash and earthquakes over the centuries." VIGALAND is delighted to share these photos with you and we thank John for sharing them. |
